A zone will not turn on
One zone stays dry while the rest run fine. Almost always the solenoid, the wire to it, or a valve stuck shut.
Medics fix: test for 24 volts at the valve, then trace the wire or replace the failed part.A zone will not shut off
Water keeps running after the program ends, or after the controller is unplugged. Grit in the diaphragm or a failed solenoid holds the valve open.
Medics fix: close the irrigation shutoff valve now, then rebuild or replace the valve.A sprinkler head is broken or geysering
Water shooting straight up, sideways, or barely at all — a sheared riser, cracked body, or a worn wiper seal.
Medics fix: match the head and nozzle, reset arc and radius, flush the lateral.Water bubbling up out of the ground
A geyser or a slow boil in the turf while a zone runs means a cracked lateral line or a head snapped off below grade.
Medics fix: isolate the zone, expose the break, and splice the pipe clean.A wet spot that never dries out
Soft, spongy ground that stays saturated between run times. In clay soil the water surfaces well away from the actual break.

Paying to water concrete. A head has been knocked out of adjustment, set to the wrong arc, or sits in the wrong place entirely.
Medics fix: reset arcs and nozzles, or relocate the head so coverage lands on turf.Weak spray or low pressure
Heads barely pop up, rotors stall, spray falls short of the next head. Could be a mainline leak, a throttled valve, or too many heads on one zone.
Medics fix: measure static and operating pressure, then find the restriction.Several heads on one zone are not working
When a group fails together the fault is upstream of them — a broken lateral, a partly closed flow control, or a pressure problem, not the heads.
Medics fix: run the zone and read the pattern, then repair the common cause.The controller has power but nothing runs
Display lit, program set, no water. Usually a blown fuse or triac, a failed common wire, or a rain sensor holding the system off.
Medics fix: test the station outputs and the common, then repair what is failing.The controller has no power at all
Dark display, no lights, nothing on any zone. Often a tripped GFCI in the garage, a dead transformer, or a failed outlet.
Medics fix: check the circuit first, then the transformer, then the controller itself.The valve box is full of water
A flooded box is a symptom, not a nuisance. Something in that manifold is seeping — a bonnet, a fitting, or a valve that is not sealing.
Medics fix: pump the box down, pressurise, and watch which fitting weeps.The system leaks when it is turned off
Water at the lowest heads, or a zone that trickles all day. Either low-head drainage or a valve passing water under constant mainline pressure.
Medics fix: identify which of the two it is — they are different repairs.The water bill jumped suddenly
A doubled bill with no change in habits usually traces to irrigation, because it runs before dawn underground where nobody sees it.
Medics fix: read the meter with everything off, then chase what moves it.Dry or brown areas even though the system runs
Running is not the same as covering. Clogged nozzles, sunk heads, mismatched nozzles, or run times too short for clay soil all leave turf thirsty.
Medics fix: catch-cup the zone, correct coverage, and set realistic run times.The system waters at the wrong times
Zones firing at noon, running twice, or skipping days. Programming overlap, a lost clock after a power blip, or a second program nobody knew about.
Medics fix: rebuild the schedule inside the legal watering window and label the zones.The rain sensor is not working
Either it never stops the system after rain, or it stops it permanently. The disc stack wears out and the wiring corrodes.
Medics fix: test the sensor circuit, then repair or replace the sensor.A wire has been cut or damaged
One zone or all of them go dead at once. Cut common, chewed insulation, a corroded splice, or a short that blows the fuse every time.
Medics fix: trace the wire, find the break, and re-splice with gel-filled connectors.Damage from landscaping, fencing or construction

Yes. A single dead zone is normally the solenoid, the wire feeding it, or a valve stuck shut, and it is one of the most common calls we take. We test for 24 volts at the valve, trace the wire if the voltage is there, and repair the failed component.
Close the irrigation shutoff valve, which is usually near the water meter or backflow assembly, then call. A zone that will not stop is continuous water loss and usually means grit in the valve diaphragm or a failed solenoid holding the valve open.
Usually yes, but the excavation is small and targeted. Locating the leak accurately before digging is what keeps the hole small, so the diagnosis matters more than the digging. You get an estimate before any digging begins.
